...is my two front teeth.
Well not MY two front teeth. Stevie's.
For a while, she's had one left, hanging all snaggly in the front. It made her less than cute, and everytime she'd open her mouth to say something that could ONLY come from a 7 year old's mouth... well, it made her even less cute. So tonight, we did the routine check to see if it was ready to come out, and of course it was. It's BEEN ready. It lost it's "natural" color a long time ago.
Rather than the easy moment of giving it a little tug (as was so simple with the last 5 teeth...) Tonight was a dramatic episode that played out over 30-40 minutes. First, she wanted to do it on her own. So she stood at the kitchen table and watched cartoons for a good 10 minutes, focusing and "psyching" herself into pulling her tooth. After much delay, we forcefully coaxed her into standing by daddy so he could check her took and make sure it was ready to come out. She REFUSED to open her mouth...
So Nico took her to the couch to coach her on pulling her own tooth. She spent another 5 minutes ignoring daddy, another 5-10 minutes watching cartoons and focusing on the task at hand. Another 5 minutes of making up excuses for why she couldn't do it. The whole tabacle moved from the couch to the floor after about 15 minutes... more delays, more excuses... a bunch of whining and freaking out... and then JUST LIKE THAT... like a pit bull turns on it's owner... Nico had her on the floor, arms pinned down, head tilted up - mouth open and *pop!* Ahhhh... the tooth is out.
Why didn't he just do that to begin with? I mean seriously... I wish I would have videotaped the drama that built up to that AWESOME finale!
So now my snaggly toothed 7 yr old is missing BOTH her front teeth, and two of the bottom teeth (on the side.) Hopefully this makes it a little easier to look at her without laughing when she says UTTERLY ridiculous crap :)
Off to find $5 for the tooth fairy.
