There are candles in my fireplace. The evenings these days are the opportune time to break out old hoodies and flannel pajama pants. I tuck the girls into bed, and cuddle up next to Nico and watch another episode of my show and fall asleep.
Last week, we put up our Halloween decorations! It's our first year, decorating our very own home! How fun to "mark our territory." I'm anxiously waiting Halloween night, when the girls can scavenge our neighborhood on foot, hunting for sugared bounty. Nico and I will stay home and hand out our own to all the others.
Birthdays are this month. Nico's mother's... and my own three children. It's also the birth of autumn. When you walk outside and smell pecan sap and dead leaves, and the cold snap in the morning air makes you think of scenes like this:
Heck, just do a google image search for "October" and you'll be flooded with warm fuzzy. October is the introduction to Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Seasons filled with tradition, and love, and memories.
I'm so very grateful, and beyond blessed that this year, my little family will be celebrating together.... tucked safely, and warmly inside our modest, new home. We have jobs. We have money. We have food. We have Halloween costumes. We have birthday gifts. We have candles (and firewood!) We have warm sweaters for the cold days... Most importantly, we have each other and we have love.
Now, bring on the pumpkin pie!
